Gobind Singh Khalsa

Co-Founder, Board Director & Interim CEO

Gobind Singh Khalsa is the Co-Founder and Interim CEO of Biovaile, where he leads corporate strategy, organizes the executive team and board, and develops strategic partnerships across business development, R&D, and public health. At Biovaile, he is driving the development and commercialization of advanced delivery technologies that improve micronutrient availability, tackle global health challenges, and bring scalable, scientifically validated solutions to people across all stages of life and in every economic condition.

He is also the founder and Managing General Partner of Makaal Group, a long-term platform for building a focused portfolio of high-impact ventures including AI, biotechnology, education, and sustainability. Through Makaal Group, he provides vision, governance, and capital strategy across its portfolio, including Biovaile. The Group is also developing Makaal Ventures as the future general partner of the Makaal Impact Evergreen Fund, an investment platform designed to develop high-impact & high-return ventures.

Gobind’s experience spans strategy, finance, operations, marketing, and organizational development. He has advised early-stage and mid-sized companies across multiple sectors and served as CFO at 480 Holdings. Earlier in his career, he was a manager in business consulting at E&Y and Arthur Andersen, and in finance as an analyst at DLJ, a boutique investment banking firm.

Known for his ability to organize, lead, and inspire teams, Gobind combines strong business and financial acumen with a collaborative leadership style that fosters innovation, drives growth, and builds resilient cultures where people and organizations can thrive.

Dr. Arup Sen, Ph.D.

Board Director & Chief Science Officer

Dr. Arup Sen is a seasoned biotechnology executive and scientist with more than 40 years of experience in the biomedical and life sciences sectors. After 25 years in biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, and medical devices, he has spent the past two decades pioneering natural product–based technologies for health and wellness. At Biovaile, Dr. Sen leads scientific strategy, technology development, and innovation, bringing deep expertise in research leadership, intellectual property, and product commercialization.

Over the course of his career, Dr. Sen has negotiated licensing and joint venture agreements with leading global companies including Johnson & Johnson, Biomet, Sandoz/Novartis, Tokuyama Soda, and Green Cross Corporation. He has guided both private and publicly traded companies, driving R&D and corporate development initiatives at the intersection of science and business.

Dr. Sen holds a Ph.D. in Biochemistry from Princeton University and is a former faculty member at the National Cancer Institute and the Scripps Research Institute. He is an inventor or co-inventor on multiple U.S. and international patents and continues to focus on advancing Biovaile’s proprietary technologies for producing highly water-soluble nutritional minerals and plant extracts for use in customized functional formulations.

Brian Sudano

Board Director & Senior Advisor, Sales & Business Development

Brian Sudano is a seasoned sales, marketing, and distribution leader with more than 25 years of experience across nearly every segment of the beverage industry — from energy drinks to premium wine. At Biovaile, Brian serves as Board Director and Senior Advisor for Sales & Business Development, bringing extensive experience and relationships with global CPG customers. Through his firm, S&D Insights, Brian and his team support Biovaile in developing partnerships and driving growth with leading consumer brands.

In addition to his role at Biovaile, Brian is the founder and managing partner of S&D Insights, a consultancy serving global beverage clients. He previously spent 25 years as Managing Partner and COO of Beverage Marketing Corporation’s strategic consulting group, BMCSA.

Earlier in his career, Brian was Vice President of Business Processes at Constellation Brands, where he led due diligence and integration efforts in the premium wine sector and oversaw business risk management strategies. He also spent a decade at Joseph E. Seagram & Sons, where he played a key role in the company’s entry into the beer business, mergers and acquisitions, and global business development.

Recognized as a thought leader in the global beverage industry, Brian is frequently quoted in outlets including The Wall Street Journal, Financial Times, Forbes, and The Economist. He is a regular speaker at industry events and serves as a contributing editor at Beverage World magazine.
